Is Blockchain Technology Overhyped?

There’s no doubt that technology has changed the way society functions, but it's important to remember that technology still has limitations and isn’t always successful in delivering an expected outcome. There are many instances where technology has not lived up to the hype.

In a recent panel of Forbes Technology Council Members, leaders shared their opinion on overrated technology that failed to live up to expectations. Patrick Emmons, Founder and CEO of DragonSpears, talks about why blockchain technology has not made the world-changing impact predicted by some industry watchers.

Emmons describes blockchain as an innovative technology that’s very limited in scope and quite expensive. Although it’s proven useful in complex projects, “it’s ineffective in day-to-day activities.” He adds, “Simply put, blockchain is not going to revolutionize the world.”
